Clutter City Autumn Market

Saturday turned out to be bright and sunny, if a little chilly and was the perfect day for an Autumn fair.  The Clutter City Autumn Market, held at the Norwich Arts Centre, was an eclectic mix of food, music, clothes, handmade gifts and art.  The Art Centre are also hosting a John Peel Archive exhibition which began on Saturday and our stall was located right in front of an enormous photograph of his studio so it looked as though we were in the room!

We met lots of lovely people and enjoyed discovering some wonderful original work.  In particular, we loved Rebecca’s fantastical ‘Quirkles‘ textile designs which were very imaginative and beautifully made and also the Scandinavian styled Bears in the Street with their funky printed babygros, tea towels, bags and more.

Our upcycled products proved popular and we sold lots of little flower hangers which several people are planning to use as Christmas tree decorations.  The Scrabble rings also attracted lots of attention – they make great gifts or an affordable treat for yourself!  We have restocked our Etsy shop with them and now have all the letters of the alphabet on offer.

The stall next to us, LoveBike, was also selling upcycled designs.  Sophie Day makes wonderful ‘bike art’ prints, offered as artwork and greetings cards as well as these brilliant keyrings made from old bicycle chains.   She also has a range of bicycle themed photographic postcards.

Pop over to her Facebook page to see more, it’s worth a visit!

After a long day of selling, chatting, meeting people and generally enjoying our jobs, we got home to find a wonderful surprise on the doormat!

Last week we entered into a swap with the very talented Lizzie of Drop the Weasel, which was great fun!  We sent her a lavender-filled owl bag charm and some happy gnome badges and she sent us a pair of painted peg doll gentlemen.  A couple of years ago, we bought several of Lizzie’s peg doll ladies as gifts for friends and family and they were so lovely we kept one each for ourselves.  When we spotted that Lizzie had made a peg chap, we immediately ordered one each to accompany our little ladies and don’t they look dapper!

After our busy weekend, we are now looking forward to our Christmas stalls!  We are back in the studio, sewing, cutting, folding and creating to get ready for the festive period – hope you all have a great week too… LouLou & Will x
